Chiropractic Stroke Awareness

Promoting Awareness of the Dangers of Strokes Induced by Chiropractic Upper Cervical Manipulation

We are concerned about your wellbeing if you are a current patient of chiropractic or a former patient of chiropractic who suffered a stroke within 30 days of receiving an upper cervical manipulation. We, the board members of Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Organization, are comprised of stroke victims and an attorney advisor.

Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Organization is dedicated to understanding, evaluating and researching the risks of stroke induced by chiropractic upper cervical manipulation as well as providing support to stroke victims and their families.

Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Organization Reaches Out to Victims throughout North America

Our non-profit organization, national and international in scope, is based in New York and reaches out to stroke victims throughout North America. The Canadian and U.S. chiropractic communities have valuable information to share with each other. Many people are interested in this issue — including health care providers, therapists, family members and chiropractors. Among those who are interested, there many who are concerned about determining scientifically verifiable medical explanations for how, why and if upper cervical manipulation induces strokes.

Our Organization Seeks to Raise Awareness

Meanwhile, we the victims and our caregivers and advocates are eager to increase awareness among the public about what we have experienced. Many of us were young, female and healthy before our strokes. Some of us were initially misdiagnosed due to our lack of common risk factors for stroke, i.e., youth, healthy, no family history of stroke, not taking birth control or hormone replacement, non-smokers, etc.

Many of us were undergoing chiropractic treatments as a proactive, "holistic" wellness strategy. In most cases, we were completely unaware of the risk that we were taking before we received chiropractic upper cervical manipulation.

Share Your Story and Join Our Efforts

A fundamental aspect of understanding the risk is to serve as a support group and gathering place for anecdotal evidence. Stroke victims and surviving family members of strokes from throughout North America are encouraged to contact us to learn more about what we have learned about this issue, and perhaps to join us in our quest for scientific knowledge. Our goal is to influence positive changes in how patients select a chiropractor, as well as the process of consenting to treatment. Patient safety and wellbeing are primary.

We welcome the participation of chiropractors, doctors, lawyers and other interested professionals, including physical therapists and psychological counselors.
