It Takes a Community to Stem the Tide of Strokes Induced by Chiropractic Upper Cervical Manipulation

This is a Web page in progress. If you have a story to tell about a stroke induced by chiropractic upper cervical manipulation, we welcome you to contribute it to the cause of Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Organization. You may even wish to ask us to post your story on this page.

Contact us to talk about taking part in our North American community of people concerned about strokes that occur concurrently with — or shortly after — chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic Stroke Awareness Organization is a non-profit. We are dedicated to understanding, evaluating and researching the risks of stroke induced by chiropractic upper cervical manipulation.

Commemorate the Life of Your Loved One

If your loved one has lost his or her life to a stroke that occurred in conjunction with upper cervical manipulation, we offer our deepest sympathies. You may wish to help raise awareness to help prevent additional tragedies such as the loss of your family member's life. We invite you to submit your loved one's photo and his or her story, as well as the course of events associated with this tragedy.

A Tragic Tale

You may be willing to share your story, such as the story of Michael McCormick and his wife, as follows. This couple, just after the birth of their third child, went to a family gathering in Vermont. A cousin offered to give Michael's wife a chiropractic upper cervical manipulation. Tragically enough, she died right there in front of her family, immediately after this procedure.

Join Our Community if You Have an Interest in this Issue

Just as they say that "it takes a village to raise a child," we also believe that it takes a dedicated community to bring about real change. For this reason, we welcome input and requests for information from other interested parties besides stroke victims and stroke victims' family members. In particular, we earnestly welcome participation by medical doctors, attorneys, researchers and conscientious chiropractors.

Some chiropractors who avoid risky procedures in favor of safer ones may wish to join in our mission of preventing future deaths due to strokes induced by chiropractic upper cervical manipulation.

Others who have left chiropractic practice to become doctors or physical therapists may also wish to collaborate with us in collecting data. This data is intended to be used for future research with the ultimate goal being prevention of future occurrences of strokes induced by chiropractic.

Contact us to inquire or to offer to share your story with us.
